My Muse is a Cruel Mistress…

It’s been a busy couple of week. You’re probably thinking, but Christina – it’s always a busy for. Well, between work and baby boy’s therapy and doctor appointments, that is undeniably true, but lately we’ve been a bit busier than usual.

My husband and I have this plan, you see, so we’ve been talking a lot, and doing research, and trying to get our ducks in a row. And this plan of ours isn’t actually going to happen for another couple of months, so it’s only going to get worse.

However, despite all the plotting and research and shopping, I did manage to get a bit of writing done while I’ve been away from my blog. I finished chapter 6 of the Descendants and started on chapter 7 – so yay for progress.

I also wrote a chapter for one of my fanfics. Even though I knew I should be working on The Descendants, this was one of those bits that leaped up at me and demanded to be written now – because my muse is easily distracted apparently. However, it’s a yummy scene, so I forgave her.

And then my muse let me go back to work on the Descendants. But instead of letting me continue with chapter 7, she threw another scene at me that will be towards the end of the book.

I underestimated my muse. She’s not easily distracted like I originally thought. She’s actually a big fat jerk.

C’est La Vie.

Today, like all Wednesdays, is WIPpet Wednesday. WIPpet Wednesday occurs when a bunch of authors, led by the great and wonderful KL Shwengel, share snippets of what they are working on. The only rule is that what you share has to somehow relate to the date.

Since today is the 27th, I’m sharing 5 sentences from chapter 6 (2-7=5). This takes place a couple of paragraphs after the scene I shared here. Basically, Tesni and Vivian have decided not to stick around to see if the man they’ve encountered is friendly. Which is a good thing, because and his partner aren’t nice people. Sadly they don’t make it far.

Tesni attempted to swerve around him and evade his massive arms and grasping fingers, but her foot caught on a loose stone. It slipped out from under her and soon she was falling backwards. Vivian tried to stop her, but it was too late; the other girl slammed into her, and they both tumbled down the small slope, landing in the muck of the tiny stream down below. Vivian felt the back of her head collide with a sharp stone. It made a muffled wet crack like a pumpkin being thrown against the sidewalk, and then the world went dark yet again.

OWIE!!!! Ouch, ouch, ouch. Not at the moment, but that is going to be a headache. 😦 I will say this, though, if you can avoid cracking your head open on the way down, falling down a hill will certainly get you far away, fast. I hope Tesni will be okay.

Way the by, not to add to your busy-ness, but I’m looking to schedule stuff for my trip to CA, if you still want to try to meet up.

The busy-ness is rampant this time of the year. Sorry you’re dealing with more than normal.

Now as for Tesni and Vivian… I do hope that tumble got them clear from this bad guy. However, I doubt they’re going to be that lucky.
