Shortly after my last update, I was carrying my laptop across the house when the damn thing leapt out of my hands and crashed to the floor. I quickly scooped it up and discovered, to my horror, that the screen had cracked into several little pieces.
My laptop is about five years old. I had no idea if it would cost more to fix it, or to buy a new one, and frankly, at the time, we couldn’t afford to do either. Thankfully, a friend reassured me that he could fix it – all I had to do was get a new screen. A quick internet search revealed that new screens weren’t nearly as expensive as I thought they would be – but due to some stuff that was going on, it was still awhile before we could afford to get a new one, and even longer before my friend could come out and replace it.

While I do have the wordpress app on both my phone and Ipad, I soon discovered that it was damn near impossible to write anything of any length on either without a proper keyboard (It took me almost two weeks to post an update to my other blog). And the Google Docs app is equally awkward to work on.

So I just focused on Sewing.

Which was a good thing, because my etsy store exploded! We had ten orders in September, and another ten in October. Then I got the crazy idea to participate in a craft fair, which didn’t go as well as I expected it to, but still.

In between all that, the boyo was diagnosed with a significant speech delay. He started behavioral therapy with the local regional center in October, so that’s been an interesting experience. We also change insurance, so there was a lot of filling out of paperwork and researching doctors (also awkward to do on a phone, since the new insurance company’s website isn’t smart phone friendly) and then getting referrals set up to the various specialists.

So, here we are. November is almost over. The weather has finally cooled down. There’s been a lull in etsy orders. My computer is finally fixed. And while the boyo still isn’t sleeping through the night, at least he’s not biting as much. Plus he’s babbling more and more every day.

Since my computer was out of commission for so long, I didn’t get much writing done, because, again, writing on an Ipad is awkward. But since it is WIPpet Wednesday, I didn’t think it would be fair to post and not share anything. So since today is the 25th of November, here is seven sentences from The Descendants (2+5=7… I’m running on 4ish hours of sleep so I’m keeping it simple this week). This scene takes place shortly after Vivian and Tesni arrive in the doomed city of Pompeii. Their captors have taken them to the market to be sold, and while there, a roman girl takes an interest in Vivian.

“That is an interesting charm you wear,” Caelia reached out and touched Vivian’s necklace with her fingertips. “Was it a gift from a former owner? A lover perhaps?”

“No, my mother gave it to me.”

“Hmmmm.” She hummed,  pursing her lips together, and then turned to her husband. “Marcus, I must have her.”
