The surgery to put tubes in the Boyo’s ears went really well. We can tell it’s helped a lot already. He’s responding to soft and low sounds, and turns and looks at us when we speak normally or even whisper. He’s also babbling more and when he’s babbling there’s more tone and inflection that are reminiscent of normal speech patterns. Sometimes it even sounds as if he’s saying actual words or phrases, like ‘I love you’ or ‘there’s Ruff-ruff’ if his favorite cartoon is on. But if you ask him to repeat himself, he just smiles up at you with that big old toothy grin of his.

In other news, I’ve made some changes to my Etsy shop. The Boyo has become so active (he’s also turned into a climber just like his dad was at his age… so we’re doomed) that I have only been able to sew when he’s napping, or after he goes to bed for the night. This doesn’t leave me with a whole lot of time to do chores, much less do anything fun like read or write. It was beginning to wear me down (so much so that I was beginning to get snappy with people again), so I made the decision to stop selling costuming until the Boyo is a little older.

I have two more orders left to ship out, but I already feel so much better. I’m really looking to having more ‘me’ time to work on the Descendants again. Heck, I may even start playing around with these adult coloring books that everyone is so obsessed with right now!

Last, but not least, I have even bigger news to announce! My dear dear friend Jewel E Leonard is self publishing her first book! Finally, it’s Wednesday (well, it’s actually Thursday since I’m a little late in posting, but just smile and nod and pretend it’s Wednesday) which means it’s time for another WIPpet Wednesday post!

When we last checked in with our dynamic duo, they were still trapped in the middle of a snow storm. Hobbie had finally remembered the indiscretion that resulted in Anagha leaving him and had apologize for it and his faulty reasoning at the time.

Since today’s date is the 10th (again, we’re pretending it’s Wednesday here) here are 20 sentences because 2*10=20.

“If I had realized you were there…” Hobbie’s voice trailed off.

“You still would have felt the same and you would have done something stupid eventually.”

He didn’t deny it. Instead he said, “I told myself later that it didn’t matter. That you probably weren’t happy either, since you left without saying goodbye.”

“Do you blame me? I mean, how would you have felt if you walked in with me and a Bothan?”

“I would have questioned your sanity.” She rolled her eyes and he changed his answer. “I would have confronted you instead of running away. I thought you were smarter than that.”

“Yes, well, we’re just learning all sorts of new things about each other tonight aren’t we?” She snapped and then sighed. “You forget, I was only twenty three at the time.”

“You were a mature twenty three.”

She snorted, her face flushed with anger. “If you’re going to pull that, then I should point out that you were, what, thirty? I was still extremely naive in the ways of the galaxy. You were also the first relationship that I had ever had. What’s your excuse?”

It’s really easy to figure out Luke and Leia’s age since they were born at the end of Revenge of the Sith. Figuring out secondary character’s ages, like Hobbie’s, is a little harder since Michael Stackpole and Aaron Allston never really discuss ages in the X-wing novels. So I’m going out on a limb and guessing that Hobbie is probably around the same age as Luke, maybe one or two years older since he was in the academy with Luke’s best friend Biggs Darklighter.

Anagha is a few years younger, and joined up with the Republic later, after the empire was defeated, so there’s a bit of an age difference.
