In the past two weeks, the Boyo’s speech has really taken off. It’s like a light clicked on in his brain and he is just taking off in all directions. He knows that I’m mom and that my husband is dad now (I, mean, he always knew who we were but he was calling us both da for awhile there) and he’s pointing at things and labeling things. At times we even hear things that might be sentences (one night it sounded like he was saying ‘I not tired’ and ‘I want door’ after we put him to bed) and if they aren’t actually sentences, then they’re damn good approximations! He’s even starting to count a little, only up to three, though he does know the number six, and he’s even recognizing some letters. Let me tell you, it was a shock when he flipped over his rubber duckie and read off the H O and T on the bottom.
It’s just so amazing and so so wonderful. We know he still has a bit to do to catch up with his peers, but at the rate he’s going, I’m sure he’ll be where he needs to be in no time.
Unfortunately, my writing hasn’t been doing as well this week. Between my grandfather in law’s funeral, studying for school, and doing things around the house (I spray painted a dishwasher black today!), I haven’t had much time to write. I haven’t even done any editing on the pen name project this week.
It’s WIPpet Wednesday again!
This week I’m going to share some more snippets from the Star Wars fanfic I tinker with from time to time. This takes place before the other snippets I’ve shared. Wes has just pulled yet another prank on Anagha (who is currently going by Freya) and he and Hobbie have been called into a meeting with Wedge, the leader of Rogue Sqaudron, as a result. Since today is the fifth of October, here are five paragraphs.
“It was his idea.” Wes was quick to blame his fellow pilot. “Hobbie’s just trying to get Freya’s attention. He has a crush on her.”
His wingmate gave him a look. “No, I don’t.”
“Even if I did, I wouldn’t need to resort to such juvenile schemes to get her attention.”
“They aren’t juvenile, they are harmless and good fun for everyone. I can’t help it if she doesn’t have a sense of humor.”
