On Sunday I finished editing and formatting on the interior files for The Undying Ones: Revenants and uploaded them all to the appropriate websites. And then I promptly realized that the cover for Createspace wasn’t quite right – editing had added two pages to my file and that was just enough to throw things off.
Easy peasy, I thought! All I need to do is tweak the spine and it’ll be fine.
Yeah, here I am two days later and it’s not fine. It’s not fine at all. Because whenever I upload a new cover, the Createspace website shifts it slightly to the right. So all those elements that lined up exactly with the template I downloaded from their website, that was generated specifically for how many pages the document has and the paper selection I chose, aren’t lined up anymore. The spine is off by a smidge, and so is the little box I built to go around the barcode on the back.
Grrrrr.
I am currently working with Createspace to see if there is something that might be causing this on their end (maybe it’s just a display issue) but I have a feeling that I may need to tweak the cover a couple of more times before all is said and done.
So that has been my life lately. No writing. Just arguing with a website.
But enough of that – let’s move on to the good stuff!
WIPpet Wednesday is a weekly blog hop where authors share snippet of whatever project that they are working on that some how relates to the date. Since yesterday (Wednesday) was August second, I’ll be sharing 4 sentences (8/2=4 from The Undying Ones: Elusion – which is the next part of Mattie’s tale.
Mattie smiled.
Well, she tried to smile. It’s been so long since she’s really, truly smiled that she wasn’t entirely sure that the expression currently on her face actually looked like. It must be something pleasant though, for Liam’s mother hasn’t run away.

Congrats on finishing your novel!
What you’re going through with Createspace sounds frustrating. Hope you are able to get it sorted out.
Nice snippet 🙂

I haven’t used Create Space, and, after what I’ve read here and heard from others, I might never.
Nice WIPpet!

You know, I complain about it from time to time, but it’s really not as bad as Nook Press’s traditional printing options. And Lulu just confused the hell out of me.

How frustrating! That was one of the reasons I gave up using CreateSpace – the covers were always off.
Great wee snippet, though. Maybe there’s something to be said for practising smiling in the mirror.
