Just Right…

I apologize for posting so late last week and not getting around to comment on anyone’s posts. Despite being so minor, this last surgery was far more stressful than anyone expected. Boyo bounce back really quickly though – in fact, he was back to normal by the next day. However, my husband and I are still exhausted.

Of course, the medication I was put on to treat my PCOS is probably not helping either. What is it about Metformin that screws with people so badly?

As a result of not having much in the way of energy, I didn’t get much writing done this week. I have, however, caught up on a number of my favorite TV shows including The 100, Shadowhunters (which I still haven’t made up my mind about), Total Divas, and The People Vs OJ Simpson. I also got some reading done; I finished Bound by Kate Sparks who is one of our wonderful WIPpeteers (and whose book I meant to finish ages ago, but with the Boyo there just is never enough time).

Anywho, since it’s Wednesday, here is another installment of Anagha’s tale. Last week she landed on the Errant Venture and was greeted by Trista Fatin, a Jedi who knew her uncle. Trista was not very happy with Anagha, and scolded her about the mission. You can read more of that here. Since today is the 16th of March, here are 13 paragraphs (3-16=13)

“I remember.” Anagha replied. “You saw through the Force that everything and everyone was just fine. But the thing is that the Vong can’t be detected through the Force at all, so it’s possible that they could have been lurking, waiting to strike. This is a valuable resource that we couldn’t afford to loose.”

“Right,” Trista rolled her eyes. “Because a planet that still believes in magic, and whose biggest technological accomplishment is the wheel will the deciding factor in the war.”

“Considering they have creatures who closely resemble the Vong, it’s entirely possible that by studying them we might be able to reach a breakthrough about how to better defend ourselves from them.”

The Jedi hit a button in the control panel that paused the lift mid trip. “You know as well as I do that that’s a crock of wampa dung. Why didn’t you listen to me?”

“Because I wanted to make sure the people I cared about were still safe, and unless you are somehow able to detect the Vong, there was no way for me to be sure unless I saw them with my own eyes.”

“If you had asked, I would have told you.”

Anagha closed her eyes and sighed. “Again, you know as well as I do that there is no way to detect-”

“I didn’t sense anything through the Force.” Trista snapped. “I came here on a scouting mission when the invasion first started and I put measures in place that would alert me the second a boogey was detected.”

The pilot opened her eyes and stared at her. “What do you mean?”

“You aren’t the only one who cares about this planet. You forget, I was here with Jalaal all those years ago, and, while my stay wasn’t the most enjoyable, and those I cared about are long gone, I do have some fond memories of the place. I wanted to make sure that it was safe just as much as you did, so I borrowed a ship from Booster, and left several satellites in orbit that run scans for Vong ships every twenty seconds. While my presence easily went undetected, yours and your squadron’s attracted every enemy nearby.”

“Why didn’t you say anything about this earlier?” If she had known, she never would have suggested this mission. She would have kept the planet secret like Jalaal had made her swear to.

“I thought you had more faith in me. Clearly, I was wrong.”

“Yeah, you were. If you would actually talk to people instead of hiding in your lab with your experiments, then maybe we might trust you and your word a little bit more.”

Love the back and forth between them here. “That’s a crock of wampa dung” is my new favorite phrase, although I also like “If you would actually talk to people instead of hiding in your lab with your experiments…” LOL! Pretty sure I know people like that, on both sides of the argument.

Not being Star Wars girl (no Vulcans, y’see), I got a little lost as to who was speaking and when. But the dialogue is tense, and the conflict seems evident.

Glad the Boyo bounced back, and hoping his parents can eventually follow suit.

It does help. =D And I know all about NaNo rough. Honestly, I’m amazed that you can manage to write anything coherent with the Boyo so small. I wrote mostly gibberish when my big kids weren’t!

I hope you don’t mind me borrowing the term, lol.

As for the Boyo, I try to write when he’s sleeping. Unfortunately, even then it seems like there’s never enough time to get everything I want to get down – but a lot of that is probably my fault. I have way too many projects, and I get distracted by the internet far too easily.

Don’t mind in the least. =D

My Boyo never did sleep much when he was small(ish. He was born big, and fourteen and a half years later, he’s got half a head on me!). And then there was tragedy, and then the Daredevil Diva joined our family…maybe that has more to do with things – making three people in as many years – that’s a lot of busy!

There will be time enough, one day. Mine are 14.5 and almost 12, and it’s almost unbelievable how much more time I have for my own projects now. Often, they’ll spend hours in their rooms doing their own things. We intersect for food, conversation, snuggles, and the like, but, really, it’s a very different thing than having a wee one!
