Tomorrow is turkey day – at least in the US it is. We’ll be spending it with my side of the family this year, which will be nice. I haven’t seen much of them in the past couple of months because I’ve been so busy with school.
Speaking of school, I register for next semester in a week. I was going to try to finish my AA, but my transcripts from my first go around at school are such a muddle that I can’t help but think that maybe starting from scratch would be best. I remember finishing a few requirements, however I can’t find them anywhere when I look through things. Plus my math classes are just a mess. I’ll be scheduling an appointments with a counselor soon. In the meantime I’ll finish the classes I need for the Real Estate certification (which aren’t needed to get a license, but it looks nice). They also count towards a Real Estate degree, so I’ll be a few steps closer once I get this mess figured out.
In between fiddling with all that, I did get some writing done. Sadly, none of it was on The Undying Ones. That story is still being stubborn, and my attempts to push through just feel like bashing my head against a wall. I did get some work done on The Descendants; I rewrote the opening, and I jotted down a couple of scenes that takes place later in the book and in the series.
Anywho, since tomorrow is Thanksgiving – I decided to share a snippet for WIPpet Wednesday that is related to food. I would share one that is a little more in the spirit of the holiday, but, honestly, the girls don’t have much to be thankful about in this book.

Vivian kept the knife firmly grasped in her hand while she scooped up some of the stew on the rough bread. It was greasy and bland and she couldn’t quite place what the meat was. However it was more than the the scraps that the men in the black armor had ever given her.
When she finished the bowl, the man slid his across the table towards her. “Here – you need it more than me.”
“Thanks.” Vivian murmured.
His thick eyebrows shot up. “She speaks!”

I love that last line. It says a lot about her mood and circumstances thus far. The rest was good, too…and I want/don’t want to know what the mystery meat is….
Good luck on untangling the school stuff so that you can go as far as you want to. Hope you had a pleasant holiday with your family.

Now I’m wondering whether she had not meant to speak and the “thank you” just popped out as force of habit. I quite like the man she’s with – just from this short bit of exposure, he seems pretty decent.
