The Mysterious Door…

The Boyo has an ear infection (apparently it is still possible to get them even if you have tubes in your ears) so life is a little chaotic right now while we deal with that. Normally his mood gets better once he get started on antibiotics, but this time around it’s like his attitude is getting worse with every passing minute. The past two days have been an absolute trial with hourly meltdowns. Usually because I’ve left the room to do something mundane like go to the restroom or cook dinner. I’m hoping that maybe things will improve a bit (he is only two after all) once the medicine really kicks in.

Last week I managed to hit 50,000 words. This week I am back under 50,000 words again thanks to editing. I know I should save editing until I am done with the book, but I’m having to tweak scenes from the older story to fit in with the current one as I write. I’m loosing words in different areas as a result of that – but I’m sure I’ll make them back up again fairly soon.

wippet-wednesday

In last week’s WIPpet Wednesday post, Mattie woke up to find Rordan and Talesin outside of her bedroom. This week they have taken her deep into the bowels of the castle to show her something in the Dungeon.

Today’s date is 3/15, so I’ll be sharing 5 lines from this next scene (15/3=5)

The Undying Ones

Mattie eyed them as she stepped around them to peer into the darkness beyond the door. She didn’t remember them having that much trouble the first time she had seen them entering the dungeon. Judging from their over exaggerated panting they had probably pretended that it was harder than it actually was in order to impress her. She reached out and pressed her hand against the rough wood planks of the door, yes it was heavy, but it moved easily under her touch. Someone had been keeping the hinges in working order despite the decay that threatened to take over the rest of the castle.

LOL at them faking it being harder than it is. I wonder who’s been keeping the door in working order.

Ear infections are miserable. 😦 I hope your little guy feels better soon.

Thanks. This one kinda surprised us. We thought it was just his two year molars were bugging him because he had no fever, and aside from chomping on things, he wasn’t showing any pain. He’s doing better now, but getting ear drops in has been quite the event. I could devote an entire blog post to it!
