Last week, I was formatting a novella that will be a part of a serial series for one of my pen names, when I decided to take a look at Createspace and their publishing services.
Bad idea.
Bad bad idea.
Createspace makes everything so simple that it’s a breeze. And I was surprised to realize that I get way more enjoyment out of designing a paperback than an ebook. So now I want to publish all the things. All of them. Even my fanfics – if I ever finish them (those I wouldn’t put on sale, obviously… I would just design them for my own enjoyment, y’know?)
While I was playing around on Createspace, I came to the realization that, for some stupid reason, none of the writing programs on my computer want to handle a document over 55,000 words. I don’t know if it’s just because my computer is getting older (and I just made updates to it too) or if it’s because most of my software is student editions (which I highly doubt) but whatever the reason, if I try to write anything beyond 55,000 words, my computer suddenly slows down and starts taking forever to save. I even had a few BSODs over the weekend – which was terrifying.
Unfortunately, it will be awhile before I am able to get a new computer, and we don’t have the space to set up my old desktop. Plus, I really don’t want to risk loosing what I have, I’ve made the decision to split The Undying Ones in to two parts. Now, I’ve mentioned before that this was a decision I was struggling with, and I was trying not to give in to. Well, the computer has given me no choice. So Revenants will be coming out next month, and Elusion has an estimated release date of October at the moment.
It’s pretty exciting. And I’ve really enjoyed getting everything formatted for publication. If you want to see a copy of the new cover, come follow me on facebook. I’ve promised that as soon as I reach 30 followers, I’ll do a cover reveal!
Today is Wednesday, which means it is time for another WIPpet snippet!
Since today is June seventh, I’ll be posting 8 sentences (7 for today plus one to make up for not posting last week) from that Star Wars fanfic of mine. This picks up right where last week’s left off, and it gets a little steamy. Enjoy!
Hobbie’s lips were still soft and smooth despite all the years that had passed. The hand that cupped her face, gentle but firm. Despite her resolution not to go down this road again, strong sweet desire swelled up inside of her. It had been so long since she had been with anyone, that she had forgotten how good it felt to be held, to be touched. She crawled into his lap in a desperate need to be closer to him, tilting her head in a wordless invite to deepen the kiss.
He eagerly rose up to meet her silent demand, letting her taste him with slow gentle strokes before pressing his own suite forward. He remembered where all her sensitive spots were located, and he used that knowledge to his advantage as soon as she gave him the go ahead to do so. He stroked her body through her clothing, licking and nibbling at her exposed skin, encouraging the fire deep inside her to build and build until she was panting and squirming against him in desperation.

Ooh steamy! I am not too familiar with Star Wars but I like this š
I am thinking about taking a crack at WIPpet Wednesday too. Does it have to be a sexy scene? (That’s the trend I’m seeing haha….)
Cheers,
Sophie

Thank you! WIPpet Wednesday is a lot of fun. The scene you share can be whatever you like it to be – it doesn’t need to be steamy unless you want to be š

Don’t worry Sophie, I never post steamy scenes! They’re definitely not a requirement!

Thank you š I am really proud of how this scene turned out – steamy without being too explicit.
